As a copy director and UX content lead, I consistently navigated complex, challenging situations with numerous moving parts. I built and maintained strong relationships with a wide range of cross-functional stakeholders, including leadership, design, product, business, legal & compliance, accessibility governance, and external agency partners.
I was passionate about educating my cross-functional partners on my team’s skill sets and worked with my design-focused counterparts to address collaborative challenges. When breakdowns in process or collaboration occurred, I guided my writers in navigating each nuanced situation. I made it a priority to show up for my team, even if it was just as a “fly on the wall.”
In addition to strategic guidance, I provided hands-on support. I regularly answered my writers’ questions about accessibility, reviewed their work, conducted pre-delivery copy QCs, and troubleshot tools and processes. I always encouraged my team to ask questions, search for answers, and come to me whenever they got stuck.
Leadership, to me, is about more than just year-end reviews and smooth sprint deliveries. It’s about clearing paths and removing barriers, so the team can do what they do best: create amazing experiences for our customers.
